With Scavenger Hunt For Huttons Accomplished, Focus Shifts To Saturday’s Benefit In East Grand Forks

Eight teams participated in a Saturday scavenger hunt in Grand Forks and neighboring East Grand Forks, Minn., to raise money for sarcoma cancer patient Kelly Hutton and her baby son, Mason, who experienced severe birth trauma that left him with hearing loss and a yet-to-be determined level of bilateral brain damage.

The winners were the team of Diane Manthie, Angie Rose, Patti Stordahl, Angela Lorenz and Wanda Rose.

Wanda and Diane work with Kelly Hutton at the Grand Forks County Office of the District Court Clerk.

The event – including an all-you-can eat chili feed – took place at the Eagles Club

Kelly Hutton and her husband, Chris, also participated in the scavenger hunt with a team of friends and relatives. Chris is a Grand Forks County sheriff’s deputy who was honored earlier this year as the VFW’s Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for North Dakota.

The scavenger hunt served as a prelude to this Saturday’s benefit for Kelly and Mason Hutton, also to be held at the Eagles Club, 227 10th St. N.W., East Grand Forks. This weekend’s big event features a baked potato bar from 4 to 7 p.m., plus a silent auction and bake sale from 3 to 8 p.m.

NDAD and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans are event sponsors. NDAD, through its Community Fundraiser program, also is serving as custodian for all funds raised – 100 percent which will go to the Huttons.
